Ivancast Podcast - the first multilingual podcast of Ecuador recorded in the Amazonian rainforest. Season 2 explores the world of music. In this episode, I had a great chat with Tenesha the WordSmith. Tenesha loves poetry and music and is a special education teacher. She began writing poetry in elementary school when a teacher gave her a journal and the summer homework assignment to write. Tenesha grew up in Oakland, Ca. and has performed with performance artist groups Her Temple Monologues and Urban Guerilla Theatre. Tenesha performed at Glastonbury and Love Supreme in 2019. She is signed to On The Corner Records. Dj Khalab produced her powerful, soulful spoken word album Peacocks & Other Savage Beasts which we discuss in this episode. We also talked about her musical roots and her philosophy on life as a writer and musician. Thank you Tenesha for letting me play your music on the podcast and share your love with the world. Hola podcast-escuchas, este es un pequeño test técnico probando mi nuevo mic & mixer. Básicamente soy yo jugando con cables, mics, mixers y computadoras para brindarles la mejor experiencia posible en cuanto a la calidad y fidelidad del sonido. También aprovecho para darles un pequeño update y las gracias a todos quienes formaron parte de mi primera temporada y a todos quienes escucharon mi podcast. Gracias por todo el apoyo. El próximo año regresaré con el estreno de la segunda temporada con nuevos equipos y muchas sorpresas. 2020 será un buen año! Hey Everybody, I wish you all happy holidays! This is just a quick update & technical test. I am testing my brand new mic & mixer. In this new episode of Ivancast Podcast, I had an amazing chat with Pedro Reynolds Cuellar. Pedro is a Colombian Doctoral student in the Center for Civic Media at MIT. He started studying Linguistics in Colombia, then travelled around South America and Africa as part of his job. He did a Masters degree with the Personal Robots group at MIT's Media Lab where he focused on designing mechanisms to foster children's socio-emotional skills such as empathy, through interactions with social robots. They have been living in the Ecuadorean Amazon rainforest for over fifteen years. Both are professors and researchers at the local public university. Hey podcast-world! This time, me and my sidekick Mauri get together to talk about Stand-up comedy in Spanish (we will make an Episode in English soon!) We briefly review the origins of stand-up comedy, tv shows and comedy clubs. We also discuss the impact of the internet in the development of stand-up comedy. We had a blast talking about the Tonight Show, SNL, The Tom Green Show, Jackass, Dave Chappelle, Joe Rogan, Eddie Griffin etc. We even remembered Andy Kaufman and movies like The King of Comedy and Freddy got fingered. Best parts:
min 18:00: we had a look at our old DVDs collections. Min. 34:00: we remembered some old school comedy tv shows that were popular in South America back in the 80s and 90s. Min 42:00: I talked about my favorite comedian Tom Green. Min 56:00 Mauri shared his experiences traveling to several stand up comedy shows in Europe. Min 59:00: we discussed the German humor. Min 69:00: Mauri talked about Russel Peters.
